INDUSTRIAL & INTERIOR DESIGNER ANNA HÖRLING
Anna has always loved working with her hands and she believes that function is as important as the aesthetics of the design process. She wants to encourage people to be more active in shaping their lives and homes. This is a constant theme in Anna’s work, both in her books about handicraft and in her own own design.
Equally important is taking responsibility for the environment as much as possible. Anna’s instructive sewing books focus on making simple, playful design of existing materials, reusing old garments and textiles, to preserve old products that would otherwise be discarded.The joy to use and live with things that you created yourself with recycled material, possibly is one of Anna’s greatest inspirations.
The long dark nordic winters has intilled an everending passion for light and as a consequence lighting fixtures. “I need light to thrive, like so many other northerners I am drawn to the light.”

インダストリアル＆インテリアデザイナーアンナは、いつも手先を使って仕事をするのが大好きです。デザインプロセスのなかでは、美しさとともに機能性も非常に重要だと信じており、生活や家庭をもっと積極的に作り上げていくことを、皆に勧めたいと思っています。これは、アンナの作品における普遍的なテーマで、ハンドクラフトの書籍でもデザインの仕事でも、それを心がけています。同様に、環境への責任も大切です。アンナの縫い物の本では、家にあるもの、つまり古着や古い生地をリユースして、シンプルで遊び心のあるデザインを紹介し、そうして使わなければ捨てられてしまうような、古いモノを大事にするということを伝えようとしています。リサイクル素材を利用して自分で作ったモノを使い、それらとともに生活することの喜びが、アンナにとっての最大にインスピレーションの一つなのです。

長くて暗い北欧の冬を過ごすことによって、光への愛着は果てしなく続き、その結果照明器具への興味へとつながりました。「私は、北欧人がみんなそうであるように、健やかに生きていくために光が必要であり、光にひきつけられています。」

アンナは、社会的責任に従いつつ、ファッションに対する洗練された興味も合わさって、眼鏡のデザイナーとしての作品にも携わっています。「ファッションと実用性が重なり合うところが面白いんです。」
